Lakeside's Story
The story of Lakeside Covenant began years ago with a desire and vision for New Hope to be a church planting church that plants church planting churches. Through many years of prayer, the Lord brought Matt Matulia into a mentoring relationship with New Hope's Associate Pastor David Kelly in 2017. The Lord used this relationship to call Matt into the ministry of Church Planting, and after three years of seminary, he graduated from RUF in May 2022. Through the Church Planter Assessment process, Matt and his wife Lindsey were affirmed in their calling to plant a church in their hometown. They began meeting in their home for study and fellowship in August of 2022, with the hope and vision that the Lord would begin to build a church out of this group. In January of 2023, Lakeside Covenant officially established a “launch team” consisting of people whom God has called to be a key part of launching the church.
Lakeside Covenant launched as a church plant January of 2024 and are currently gathering in the gym at Round Lake Charter School. It is their prayer that the Lord would use Lakeside Covenant to manifest the glory of his invisible kingdom throughout the east Lake County community!
